The first season
The first season of this series was set in Maui in Hawaii. As already pointed out before, the series is set in dream resorts and takes place by gradually revealing the hidden sides of characters who seem perfect.
It was broadcast for the first time in 2021, the series was highly followed and appreciated by critics.
The second season of The White Lotus in Sicily
The second season obviously follows the path of the first with the big difference of the location chosen to shoot it. In fact White in the new season of the series chose Sicily as the background of the plot.
More than on the series itself, we will focus on the Sicilian settings chosen as the backdrop for this new season.
Location in Sicily
The San Domenico Palace in Taormina was chosen as the main backdrop for this new season, a place with a unique charm. Located in Taormina, this luxury hotel is housed in a former 15th-century convent. In addition to this it boasts wonderful views of the sea and of Mount Etna.
This location certainly deserves the prestige it has had in setting the new season of this very popular series.
But White and the production didn’t stop there. They shot scenes in all places that are icons of Sicily especially in the United States.
Some scenes were shot around Taormina, Noto, Cefalù and Catania.
Another place that must be mentioned among those used for filming is Villa Elena, a Jesuit convent from the 1600s in Noto that was renovated by the famous architect Jacques Garcia.
Garcia with his reconstruction work has managed to create a unique place. It will not have been difficult to attract the director and producers of this series.
Another location that must certainly be remembered is: The Castle of the Slaves in Fiumefreddo.
This place is a pearl of the Sicilian Baroque and certainly deserved the attention of the cameras.
One last place that must be mentioned is Villa Tasca, a stupendous residence that dates back to the 16th century and is one of the most evocative places on the island.
